What type of allergies can Dr. Wilson's Protocol help fix?

Just about anything....Just bring a sample of whatever you think you might be reacting to.

As far as food allergies or sensitivities are concerned the most common culprits are Gluten, Egg, Dairy, Soy and Corn. But in my practice, I also notice a lot of cases of other allergies such as Alcohol, Caffeine, Chocolate, Fish, Shellfish, certain fruits, citrus, certain meats, sweeteners such as saccharin or aspartame, some vegetables like potatoes, sugar, yeast etc. Many people also react to additives such as cooking oils, food dyes, preservatives, spices such as cinnamon, herbicides and pesticides such as glyphosate, food colors etc. It's common for people to react to environmental agents such as animal hair and fur, feathers, carpets, dust, mold, heavy metals, latex, perfumes, household cleaners, pollen, flowers, grasses, trees, weeds and ragweed.
When these allergies are not addressed and the body is triggered again and again, the immune system becomes hyper-sensitive and overactive, people also become sensitive to and start reacting to vitamins, proteins and amino acids and minerals and may be even the body's owns hormones. These are some of the sickest patients I see.

The good news is that I can help you fix all these sensitivities and allergies. With my protocol we don't just manage these, we also eliminate them completely. The first step of course is determining the extent of your problem.

Where is your body at?

What are all the things that it is reacting to?

If you have a couple of hours to spend in my office, I can give you that answer that same day!

Allergy Screening, is an essential first step of the Wilson protocol. The goal is to know anything and everything your body is reacting (sensitive) to. The Wilson Protocol, screens for food sensitivities and allergies, as well as other hypersensitivities and intolerances
Key Advantages to Dr. Wilson's holistic screening method over a conventional skin prick test:
  • Unlike the Skin Prick Test or Blood work, ZERO NEEDLES are used in this screening method! This makes it especially kid friendly.
  • You are never injected with or brought in direct contact with the allergen (the substance you might be allergic to).
  • The traditional skin prick test is limited in what you can be tested for. Roughly only 40 different items. Dr. Wilson's method,  can screen you for just about anything. Bring whatever item you think you might be allergic to or your body by me reacting you and Dr. Wilson can assess that.
  • The session takes about 25-40 minutes and is completely non-invasive.
  • It is not expensive ($150 for adults and $75 for children) and at the end you get a PRINTOUT to take home of all substances we screen for on that very day!
  • Unlike the skin prick test, there are no side-effects like skin rashes. This makes it especially great for children!
  • Once Dr. Wilson completes the screening he shares his results with you, he develops the allergy elimination plan with you. He also recommends which allergens to avoid (based on your screening results).

Question # 2
I think I know what I am allergic to .
Do I still need screening?

Screening is an essential step to my protocol and cannot be skipped. It leaves out the guess-work of wondering... "what is it that my body is reacting to?"

My holistic allergy screening is done to not only understand what your body is allergic to, but also what hypersensitivity or intolerance you may have. In my experience, hypersensitivities and intolerances can cause just as many issues as allergies can.

Many people have a good idea of what they are allergic to, but often have little to no idea of what they might be hypersensitive/intolerant to. In my experience, if you are a chronic allergy sufferer, you have many more allergies/sensitivities that you realize! Together, we will get to the bottom of it!

For example, you may not have the usual symptoms associated with allergies like hay fever, rash, hives, runny nose, and itchy eyes. Still, you may have other symptoms like stomachache, fatigue, flu-like symptoms, headaches, joint pain, or inflammation. We don't typically associate any of these symptoms with allergies; we have not been trained to associate any of these symptoms with allergies...

I also commonly see patients starting to develop auto-immune type conditions who are given the run-around in the medical system, but it turns out they just have 40-50 different allergies/hypersensitivities that are not being addressed.  If they are not being addressed, we cannot expect to feel our best, or getting back to the quality of life we once had.

I have had patients, who have done the traditional Skin (Patch) test for allergies. I definitely work on those allergies with these patients, but my allergy screening looks at additional items that are not  checked for on the skin (patch) test.

Holistic allergy screening is completely non-invasive. I don't prick you with needles or inject allergens into your skin; those methods are completely unnecessary!

When it comes to screening, I treat Allergies, Hypersensitivities, and Intolerance the same. Our goal is to know anything your body is reacting to. My method of screening does not differentiate between them.

Question # 3
How is a Holistic Screening for Allergies different than conventional Medical Allergy Testing?

Traditional allergy testing involves a skin prick test, also known as puncture or scratch test.  In this test, the skin is pricked with a small amount of substance and if the skin gets red, irritated, itchy, or swollen, that is considered a "positive" reaction, which means you are allergic to that substance. The test takes about 25- 45 minutes. The results can appear immediately or can be delayed for up to several hours or occasionally days. The skin prick test checks only about 40 different substances. The test is looking for allergies to food, pet dander, pollen, mold and dust mites.  In adults the testing is usually done on the forearm and in children on their backs! (Ouch)! The reaction on the injection site should subside within 24- 48 hours. Usually multiple substance will be tested at the same time. The risk with the skin prick test is that allergy symptoms can occur during testing...or days later.  The purpose of the skin prick testing is to determine what substances to avoid and what medications may be useful to only mange symptoms to these allergies.

My method of allergy screening does not involve any needles or skin pricks.  It does not cause any allergic reaction or symptoms. The test takes about 40 minutes to complete. In this screening process, not only foods, pet dander, pollen, mold and dust mites are tested, but other types of substances like toxic chemicals, carpet, formaldehyde, artificial food coloring and additives, also specific ingredients in foods and beverages tested without any concern of direct contact or reaction to those substances. Even substances that your own body creates, like cortisol (hormones) which in some patients can actually cause their body to negatively react! There are roughly 90 substances tested for, and your body will react if it is allergic, but also, if it is sensitive or "hypersensitive" to the substance.

Here is another major advantage to my way of screening:

With the way I test, you can bring a sample of whatever substance you may think you are allergic to, and I can use that sample for testing. And, if you are allergic to the sample you brought in, I can use that during our elimination protocol.

This is one major advantage of my screening method which is not an option in the traditional skin prick testing.  As an example, I've had patients bring in their favorite coffee that they drink everyday, and sometimes we find it is causing their body to negatively react!

Another advantage, is the ability to screen for hypersensitivities, not just allergens, that can cause allergies.

Hypersensitivities, are usually too subtle to be picked up by a skin prick test, however, my screening can determine if you have a hypersensitivity and how severe it might be. In my experience, there isn’t much difference between an allergy which develops antibodies and can be detected in a lab test v. hypersensitivities, which can’t be tested with a lab test. They both react adversely within the body almost identically.

Key differences between my screening method and a conventional Skin prick test:

  • ZERO NEEDLES are used in my screening!
  • The traditional Skin prick test is limited in what you can be tested for. Roughly 40 different items. My method as explained above can screen you for just about anything. When you first visit my office I screen you for roughly 90 different allergens. Then once we start the process, you can bring different items to me (for example, a sample of your dog or cat's fur, your coffee or tea, your make up, etc., etc.) and I am happy to screen you for them.
  • You get a PRINT OUT to take home of all substances we test for!
  • Unlike the skin prick test, my method is completely non-invasive and there are no side-effects.

Book your Allergy Screening for you and your family members to understand what is causing issues in your health! These allergies and sensitivities will not go away on their own and only worsen if left alone. The sooner we work together, the better!

Question # 4
Can you Explain your Method of Screening?

My Allergy screening method is based on the principles of Kinesiology and Bioenergetics.

All electric currents generate magnetic fields. Our body is an electrical system. Our nerves carry electrical impulses / signals throughout the body, therefore our body also has an electromagnetic field. It has been well established that the electrical activity in the human body produces magnetic fields, which are sometimes referred to as Bioelectromagnetic (BioEM) energy.

Now, how this is useful in my protocol is that if we bring an allergen within the electromagnetic field of our body, your nerve and muscle system will react immediately and tense up! This reaction is observable and helps us identify what you might be hypersensitive, intolerant or allergic to.

I do this as a Two-Step Process, as described below:

Step 1- Balancing Your System

I have you lay face down on the table. I will then assess your legs to make sure they are even in length. If they are not, using an activator (for chiropractic adjustment), I will make minor adjustments along your spine and pelvis until the legs are even.

Gentle pressure with an Activator is all that is needed; this is painless for my patients!

The Leg Check is something I use throughout the screening. When you first lie down, whenever the body out of balance, one leg will be shorter than the other.

Our body's nerve and muscle systems are constantly communicating, and anything that our body is sensitive or allergic to can disrupt or change this communication, which can cause one side of the body to shorten specifically in the leg.

(See the same image above, zoomed-in below) This patient's left leg is roughly 1/2" shorter then the right leg.

(see the same image above, zoomed-in below)

 Step 2 - Actual Screening
(Demonstration: What happens when I bring an allergen in close proximity to your body)

Now, using the principles of kinesiology, as you lay face down on my table, I place a vial of the potential allergen in your hand. This is my way of introducing an allergen in your body's electromagnetic field. If your body is allergic or sensitive to it, your body will react, it will tense up, resulting in one leg becoming shorter than the other. (typically 1/4"- 3/4" difference in length)

If you are not allergic to the item I am placing in your hand, there is no problem, the body won't tense up, and the legs will stay even.

However, if you are sensitive / allergic to the item I place in your hand, your body will tense up and invariably one leg will become shorter than the other. The stronger your body reacts, the more obvious or severe the difference in length will be!

I have demonstrated this to patients and their loved ones thousands of times. Family members and parents of children watching me do this to their loved ones are amazed when they watch me perform this screening.

I'll be checking with substances in several areas… the usual inhalants, foods, environmental, etc. etc. (see full list below)

Every time I am introducing a substance in your body's electromagnetic field that it is hypersensitive, allergic or intolerant to, I get the same response. One leg shorter than the other.

While I am doing the screening, I will ask you various questions like:
Example:     If you react positively to animal hair/dander, I'll ask:

"Do you have any pets at home?" If yes, then I'll ask you to bring in a sample of the pet's hair and saliva on a Q-tip in a Ziplock bag. We will use that to resolve your allergy/hypersensitivity in the elimination step.

If you react to perfumes, I might ask: "How do you feel walking through the perfume department at Macy's?"

If you react to red or white wine, I could ask: do you have any problems drinking wine? If you respond with something like, "I don't feel good, or I get a headache shortly after." I'll respond with: I'm not surprised when I see the reaction I just got. You can relax because I'm going to fix that so you can have a glass of wine and enjoy it!" The screening is very easy for my patients and actually an interesting discovery process for you with some "Ah-Ha!" moments.

The entire test takes about 25-40 minutes. At the end of the test, I bring your body back to balance and share my findings with you.

Here is a significant advantage to my way of screening:
With the way I screen, you can bring a sample of whatever substance you may think you are reacting to, and I can use that sample for testing. And, if you are allergic to the sample you brought in, I can use that during our elimination protocol. As an example, I've had patients bring in their favorite coffee that they drink every day, and sometimes we find it is causing their body to negatively react !

Sample Screening and Elimination Progress Report

I share the screening results the same day for you to bring home. This allows you to immediately start avoiding items (food and other) as best you can, before we start the elimination sessions. As we start addressing allergies, we track progress (Completed) in the report.

RED= Positive for Reaction/Allergy/Sensitivity etc., etc.    Green= No Reaction

See the testimonials
“I suffered with seasonal allergies; certain foods were difficult to digest (especially dairy products); and raw apples caused a pain in my esophagus that was so intense I had it stretched two times. After treatment with Dr. Wilson I am now allergy-free. Fall and spring are truly my favorite seasons. Each day I am able to eat a raw apple with no adverse effects.”

KN- New Brighton, MN
"Our son, Jett, was inattentive and disruptive, angry at times, very bipolar in emotions. He was diagnosed with a high level of ADHD and autism disorder. Midway through his Allergy Elimination Program we have noticed significant changes in his attention. He seems to be much sweeter with Mom and Dad. Since being treated for his allergies by Dr. Wilson not only has there been significant improvement but his previous diagnosis of ADHD/autism has been dismissed."

Timm & Julie Young
Before my treatments with Doctor Wilson I was chronically congested to the point where I had headaches and felt miserable. I often avoided cuddling with my puppy and certain activities that would undoubtedly make my allergies worse. I was getting to the end of my rope, so tired of trying new medications and other "remedies" for my allergies and severe congestion. In fact, after about six years of allergy shots and no significant day-to-day improvement, I was ready to try anything. Now, I don't need to take allergy relief med 24/7. Most of the time I am just fine without it. Eating a non-inflammatory diet not only helps my congestion but also make me feel healthier. One of the best things about my improvement is that I feel like I have control again. Plus, I can cuddle with my puppy without immediate reactions. Thank goodness for Dr. Wilson!!"

How long does the screening take? What is the cost of screening?

The screening process takes about 30-40 minutes. It costs $150 for adults and $75 for children. You will receive the results and we will go over the next steps on the same day (your very first appointment)!

I feel like I have mold in my home. Can you screen for that?

Yes, I can. I will ask you to take a wet paper towel and rub it across the areas of you home you believe have mold. Put it in a ziplock bag and bring it with you. I will be able to use this not only to screen you and confirm if your body is reacting to it, but also use the same to help clear you for this allergy.

I feel like I am allergic to my pet cat? Can you screen for that?

Yes, I can. I will ask you to take a sample of your cat's fur and bring it in a ziplock bag for our appointment. Put it in a ziplock bag and bring it with you. I will be able to use this not only to screen you and confirm if your body is reacting to it, but also use the same to help clear you for this allergy. This is very common for my patients. Pets are very near and dear to me. My patients have been able to continue to keep their beloved pet and not be forced to give them away.

I just recently developed symptoms of allergies, but I am not sure what  is causing it. Can you help?

Yes, absolutely. Not only can I screen you for the allergy when you show up for the first appointment, I will also (based on your symptoms) recommend Functional Assessment (blood work and urine analysis) to understand your body's biochemistry. The goal is to catch any functional problem and nutritional deficiencies right away.

Will the screening match my Skin Allergy test I recently did?

My list is more comprehensive than the traditional Skin prick test.I am not only looking for allergies, I am also looking for intolerances and hypersensitivities.

If I am severely allergic to an item, how can you easily introduce me to that item? Won't I develop a strong reaction?

Unlike the Skin Prick test, you are never asked to touch any allergen when I am doing the screening. The allergen is in a vial and i gently place the vial in your hand. As mentioned above, this introduces the allergen in your body's electromagnetic field. That is enough for me to do the screening.

Will you be able to do this screening on my child?

Yes. My screening method is completely natural. No needles or pin pricks are needed in my method. Kids and I get along great!

I am afraid of chiropractic adjustments. Is that necessary for the screening?

I don't perform any manual adjustments for my patients. I use a gentle activator for adjusting the spine. It is a light gentle touch, that I will show you on the palm of your hand before starting the screening. Most patients will only feel a gentle touch or pressure when I am making the adjustment.

Do I need to prepare in any way before the screening?

Just one thing - I ask all my patients to fill out a complete history before coming in for the first appointment. A complete history allows me to understand not only the extent of your problems but also what you have tried so far, before coming in to see me.

Can you share a list of common allergens in Minnesota?

The list is long, but here are some examples:

Inhalants – Like I mentioned the grasses, pollens, flowers, powders, smoke, cosmetics, perfumes, chemical fumes such as paints, insecticides, fertilizers, flour from grains, etc.

Ingestants – These are allergens that are contracted through the normal course of eating a meal or enter our system through the mouth and thus find a way into our GI system or the gastrointestinal tract. These include foods, condiments, drugs, beverages, chewing gums, vitamins, supplements, etc.

Contactants – These are allergens that produce their effect by direct contact with our skin. Example of contactants includes poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, cats, dogs, rabbits, cosmetics, soaps, skin creams, detergents, rubbing alcohol, gloves, hair dyes, various types of plant oils, chemicals such as gasoline, dyes, acrylic nails, nail polish, fabrics, and formaldehyde.

Injectants – These are allergens that are injected into the skin, muscles, joints or blood vessels, in the form of various serums, antitoxins, vaccines, drugs and they also include substances entering through insect bites.

Infectants - These are allergens that cause sensitivity to an infectious agent such as bacteria.

Genetic Causes – Most people inherit their genetic tendencies from their parents or their grandparents. Allergies can also skip generations and be manifested very differently in parents than in their children.

Mould and fungi

*Remember, when the Immune system is out of balance, it can react to just about anything. For example lets say you had bad steak one time for dinner. Steak is a rich source of Vitamin B. If your body reacted to steak that one time, it could also decide Vitamin B is not good for it and if you consumed other food containing vitamin B, the body might react to these foods as well".
