You can bring a sample of whatever substance you may think you are allergic to, and I can use that sample for testing!
Screening is an essential step to my protocol and cannot be skipped. It leaves out the guess-work of wondering... "what is it that my body is reacting to?"
My holistic allergy screening is done to not only understand what your body is allergic to, but also what hypersensitivity or intolerance you may have. In my experience, hypersensitivities and intolerances can cause just as many issues as allergies can.
Many people have a good idea of what they are allergic to, but often have little to no idea of what they might be hypersensitive/intolerant to. In my experience, if you are a chronic allergy sufferer, you have many more allergies/sensitivities that you realize! Together, we will get to the bottom of it!
For example, you may not have the usual symptoms associated with allergies like hay fever, rash, hives, runny nose, and itchy eyes. Still, you may have other symptoms like stomachache, fatigue, flu-like symptoms, headaches, joint pain, or inflammation. We don't typically associate any of these symptoms with allergies; we have not been trained to associate any of these symptoms with allergies...
I also commonly see patients starting to develop auto-immune type conditions who are given the run-around in the medical system, but it turns out they just have 40-50 different allergies/hypersensitivities that are not being addressed. If they are not being addressed, we cannot expect to feel our best, or getting back to the quality of life we once had.
I have had patients, who have done the traditional Skin (Patch) test for allergies. I definitely work on those allergies with these patients, but my allergy screening looks at additional items that are not checked for on the skin (patch) test.
Holistic allergy screening is completely non-invasive. I don't prick you with needles or inject allergens into your skin; those methods are completely unnecessary!
Traditional allergy testing involves a skin prick test, also known as puncture or scratch test. In this test, the skin is pricked with a small amount of substance and if the skin gets red, irritated, itchy, or swollen, that is considered a "positive" reaction, which means you are allergic to that substance. The test takes about 25- 45 minutes. The results can appear immediately or can be delayed for up to several hours or occasionally days. The skin prick test checks only about 40 different substances. The test is looking for allergies to food, pet dander, pollen, mold and dust mites. In adults the testing is usually done on the forearm and in children on their backs! (Ouch)! The reaction on the injection site should subside within 24- 48 hours. Usually multiple substance will be tested at the same time. The risk with the skin prick test is that allergy symptoms can occur during testing...or days later. The purpose of the skin prick testing is to determine what substances to avoid and what medications may be useful to only mange symptoms to these allergies.
My method of allergy screening does not involve any needles or skin pricks. It does not cause any allergic reaction or symptoms. The test takes about 40 minutes to complete. In this screening process, not only foods, pet dander, pollen, mold and dust mites are tested, but other types of substances like toxic chemicals, carpet, formaldehyde, artificial food coloring and additives, also specific ingredients in foods and beverages tested without any concern of direct contact or reaction to those substances. Even substances that your own body creates, like cortisol (hormones) which in some patients can actually cause their body to negatively react! There are roughly 90 substances tested for, and your body will react if it is allergic, but also, if it is sensitive or "hypersensitive" to the substance.
Book your Allergy Screening for you and your family members to understand what is causing issues in your health! These allergies and sensitivities will not go away on their own and only worsen if left alone. The sooner we work together, the better!
My Allergy screening method is based on the principles of Kinesiology and Bioenergetics.
All electric currents generate magnetic fields. Our body is an electrical system. Our nerves carry electrical impulses / signals throughout the body, therefore our body also has an electromagnetic field. It has been well established that the electrical activity in the human body produces magnetic fields, which are sometimes referred to as Bioelectromagnetic (BioEM) energy.
Now, how this is useful in my protocol is that if we bring an allergen within the electromagnetic field of our body, your nerve and muscle system will react immediately and tense up! This reaction is observable and helps us identify what you might be hypersensitive, intolerant or allergic to.
I do this as a Two-Step Process, as described below:
The Leg Check is something I use throughout the screening. When you first lie down, whenever the body out of balance, one leg will be shorter than the other.
Our body's nerve and muscle systems are constantly communicating, and anything that our body is sensitive or allergic to can disrupt or change this communication, which can cause one side of the body to shorten specifically in the leg.
(See the same image above, zoomed-in below) This patient's left leg is roughly 1/2" shorter then the right leg.
Now, using the principles of kinesiology, as you lay face down on my table, I place a vial of the potential allergen in your hand. This is my way of introducing an allergen in your body's electromagnetic field. If your body is allergic or sensitive to it, your body will react, it will tense up, resulting in one leg becoming shorter than the other. (typically 1/4"- 3/4" difference in length)
If you are not allergic to the item I am placing in your hand, there is no problem, the body won't tense up, and the legs will stay even.
However, if you are sensitive / allergic to the item I place in your hand, your body will tense up and invariably one leg will become shorter than the other. The stronger your body reacts, the more obvious or severe the difference in length will be!
I have demonstrated this to patients and their loved ones thousands of times. Family members and parents of children watching me do this to their loved ones are amazed when they watch me perform this screening.
I'll be checking with substances in several areas… the usual inhalants, foods, environmental, etc. etc. (see full list below)
Every time I am introducing a substance in your body's electromagnetic field that it is hypersensitive, allergic or intolerant to, I get the same response. One leg shorter than the other.
While I am doing the screening, I will ask you various questions like:
Example:
If you react positively to animal hair/dander, I'll ask:
"Do you have any pets at home?" If yes, then I'll ask you to bring in a sample of the pet's hair and saliva on a Q-tip in a Ziplock bag. We will use that to resolve your allergy/hypersensitivity in the elimination step.
If you react to perfumes, I might ask: "How do you feel walking through the perfume department at Macy's?"
If you react to red or white wine, I could ask: do you have any problems drinking wine? If you respond with something like, "I don't feel good, or I get a headache shortly after." I'll respond with: I'm not surprised when I see the reaction I just got. You can relax because I'm going to fix that so you can have a glass of wine and enjoy it!" The screening is very easy for my patients and actually an interesting discovery process for you with some "Ah-Ha!" moments.
The entire test takes about 25-40 minutes. At the end of the test, I bring your body back to balance and share my findings with you.
